Also called: Multi Jet Fusion

MJF (Multi Jet Fusion) spreads nylon powder, sprays fusing agents where the part should be, and applies heat to fuse each layer. Like SLS, the powder supports the part, so no support structures are needed.

Good for

  • Production runs of plastic parts
  • Functional end-use parts
  • Complex shapes
  • Consistent batches

How it works

  1. You upload your file and choose a quantity.
  2. Parts are packed into a build.
  3. After printing and cooling, parts are cleaned of powder.
  4. Parts are usually grey and often dyed black; smoothing is optional.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Fast for batches
  • Strong, consistent parts
  • Fine detail for an industrial process

Cons

  • Limited colours
  • Grainy surface unless smoothed
  • Industrial pricing for single parts

Questions to ask the shop

  • Do you dye or smooth parts?

Common materials

Nylon PA12 (SLS / MJF) · Nylon PA11 (SLS / MJF) · TPU powder (SLS / MJF)

Common questions

MJF or SLS? Both make strong nylon parts. MJF is often faster for batches with a slightly finer finish; SLS may offer more material choices. Either is a good option.
