Built by a maker who ran out of spreadsheet.

Nozzlet Works started the way a lot of print businesses do: with one 3D printer, bought to make things for a home and a shop. Organizers, brackets, fixes for the little problems that make life harder than it needs to be.

It didn't stay a hobby for long. The printer became a tool for a small home-based business, making parts and accessories, and before long, parts to sell.

Like most makers, we tracked everything in a spreadsheet: filament costs, print times, what each product was worth. It worked, until it didn't.

When the spreadsheet broke

The turning point was a backlog. There was a stack of product requests, and the printer needed to run for several days straight to catch up. The spreadsheet could tell us what each job cost, but it couldn't help plan the week. We couldn't see when each print would finish, which changeovers would land in the middle of the night, or how to fit everything in without the printer sitting idle overnight.

That's when we started building Nozzlet Works.

What I'm building

Nozzlet Works is the tool we wanted that week: real costs for every job, filament and supplies that track themselves, and a calendar that schedules around the hours you're actually awake. We're building it for our own shop first, and for every small print business in the same spot.

Why Nozzlet

Nozzlet Works is part of Nozzlet, a directory that helps people find a local 3D printer. The idea is simple: small print shops deserve good tools to run their business, and an easy way for customers to find them. nozzlet.com →
